It’s estimated that half of people get their news from social media. This seems to be a worrying statistic in this era of fake news and misinformation. Whether it’s a family member scaremongering about a health condition or your mate telling you that they’ve heard some intel on a celebrity’s death.
Long lost Bongo musician Hussein Rashid Maaarufu, better known as Hussein Machozi, has become the latest victim of fake news after a certain Youtube channel reported his death.
It’s obvious that he caught wind of the false report before it was confirmed to be true or not. Machozi took to Instagram to shut down the untrue claims informing concerned fans that he is alive and healthy. He went ahead and asked for forgiveness if he ever wronged anyone.
“Kah jamani mbona mnaniua namna hii, hata kama hamnipendi sio hivi asee mimi nipo salama tena nina afya tele, msinifanyie hivi jamani kwani niliwakoseaga nini mniambie basi niwaombe msamaha maana mara ya pili sasa mnaniua, ama mnataka nidedi kweli”

Back in 2014, the Kafia Ghetto hitmaker almost lost his life when a politician and his friends reportedly attacked him in a club, beat him to a pulp and tore his clothes to shreds; after he was allegedly caught pants down with the politician’s wife in a Mombasa hotel.
He however moved to Italy after marrying his mzungu bae.
