South African Music Awards Set To Take Place Next Month: The Recording Industry of South Africa (RISA), recently announced that the 26th edition of their annual South African Music Awards (SAMA) will hold next month. This year, SAMA26 is in partnership with Mzansi Magic and My Muze by Vodacom.
The SAMA is the most recognized and sought-after music award in the country though this year’s award will be a virtual experience due to the pandemic we’re facing right now. The award will be streamed on My Muze by Vodacom and broadcast on Mzansi Magic, DStv channel 161 under the theme “ForThaKultcha”.
It will be streamed from 3rd to 7th of August 2020 at 21:30, each episode will be 30 minutes long except the grande finale which will be given 45 minutes. Since its a virtual experience, the Red Carpet will be taken to Twitter so everyone is invited to feed their eyes.
The nominees for the Record of the Year and Music Video of the Year categories which is open to be voted for by the public will be announced on Thursday, 9 July 2020 on SAMA26 social media platforms and My Muze by Vodacom.
The CEO of RiSA Nhlanhla Sibisi, said “We look forward to the SAMA26 virtual experience. Our teams are hard at work to deliver a show that we will all be proud of given the current state the world is in. I invite you all to tune in, plug in and do it for the culture”.
